campus life no. 3

image from www.onehundredpercentart.com Enohpi has a way of freezing movement in his photographs so we can really appreciate it's beauty. Actually our beauty because, as we move around the people, objects and events in our lives, we are movement.  We live through movement.  This photograph captures the beauty of people in movement on campus at U.C.L.A.  View Enohpi's entire Campus Life series of fine art prints on greeting cards.

hydragea no. 1

image from www.onehundredpercentart.com I love the soft and dreamy quality this card evokes.  It takes me back to my childhood because hydrangeas seemed to be everywhere then.  At least they were popular among my southern-rooted family.  But I don't recall seeing white hydrangeas as a child.  I only remember blues and pinks.  My favorites were the blue ones.  And the paler they were the better, although the fashion then was towards the brighter hues.  To my mind, this white hydrangea is as close to perfect as you can get.

coaches no. 4

Coaches No. 4 - click for details I find this photograph so intriguing, as well as being beautiful. There's something about the combination of quiet and strong light, along with the parked bus, that seem to be hiding something below the surface.  It seems too bright to be end of day or very early morning. And it's a campus scene, where there's always foot traffic, and yet it's quiet and still and beautifully mysterious.

walking the dog

Monoprint on greeting card - click for details I created this monoprint by placing a simple sketch under heavy glass on my work table, painting onto the glass, and then pressing the paint onto the card using a roller.  I let one color dry completely before doing the next pressing.  The results are gratifying.  The gesso coating I prepped the cards with absorbs some paints and seems to repel others. Some paint smears when I roll it, some doesn't.  It's an interesting process that will keep me engaged for awhile.  I did eight in this couples series initially, but saved the drawing so I can do more later.  Check out the complete Couples series.
